The Green Party are the only leftie party with any chance of winning in my locality (actually tbh that sentence could end at "The Green Party are the only leftie party"). Tories or Greens?

Not for anyone who's lived under the effects of Tory regimes and can't buy their way out, no.

It's not so difficult to understand why people are scared, especially with articles like http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2012/mar/29/toxic-pollen-mad-bee-disease which show SCIENCE failing and allowing harmful products into the environment - and you have multinationals like Monsanto gaining a monopoly on seeds due to GM technology. However considering Rothamsted is a government-funded research station it's totally the wrong target for protests.

I'm not sure why you're directing this comment at me? Perhaps you meant it for the OP?

considering Rothamsted is a government-funded research station it's totally the wrong target for protests.

I did, however, get a hearty laugh from the idea that "government-funding" might be any sort of indicator that something is "the wrong target for protests". Workfare? Iraq War? All "government-funded", as is some unscientific and/or ethically appalling "research".

I'm also amused that people are pretending peaceful protest outside politicians' residences is either new or, when they're protected by many layers of policing that we're paying for, intimidating.

IIRC during the last Tory government anti-road protestors unrolled a LARGE fake-road over environment secretary Nicholas Ridley's house. Tragically t'interwebz isn't obliging me with images of this act of terrorism comedy genius.

I correct myself, I think it was John MacGregor's house when he was the Minister for Transport. (Other possible candidates are available. Please read the small print.)
